Metamask hits back at twitter over claims of user data theft

MetaMask has released a statement in response to claims that user data was stolen in a recent attack.

According to the statement, MetaMask “analyzes all user data requests and never shares user data without a user’s permission.” The company also says that it has “not received reports of any user data being stolen as a result of this attack.”

Twitter users flagged the company’s statement as potentially false after a story published by the Financial Times alleged that user data was stolen in a recent attack on the company. The article cited anonymous sources who said that data including “private keys, contact details and even financial information” was taken in the attack.

MetaMask responded to the allegations in a blog post, saying that it is committed to protecting user data.

“At MetaMask, we take data privacy and security seriously,” the post reads. “We analyze all user data requests and never share user data without a user’s permission. We have not received reports of any user data being stolen as a result of this attack.”

Metamask users left vulnerable after twitter hack

A number of Ethereum and Metamask users have been left vulnerable after a Twitter account was hacked and 4,000 ETH ($2.7 million) was stolen.

Twitter user @Bitfinex’s account was hacked on Thursday and 4,000 ETH was stolen. Metamask users who used the bitfinex.com website to login to their Metamask wallets were also vulnerable as their private keys were stored on the site.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin tweeted about the hack, advising users to use a different password for bitfinex.com and other sites.

Metamask issues warning to users after twitter hack

Most recently, on Oct. 18, Twitter was the victim of a data breach that allegedly exposed personal information of around 87 million users. Since then, some users have reported receiving a warning from their Metamask wallet after logging in to their accounts.

The warning reads: “There has been a security issue with your Metamask account. We recommend that you update your password and security questions.”

If you have not yet done so, we recommend updating your password and security questions as soon as possible to increase your account security.

Metamask security breach leaves users' data exposed

An unknown attacker exploited a vulnerability in Metamask, a secure extension for browsers that allows users to control their privacy and security settings. The attacker was able to access user data stored on the extension’s internal storage, including private keys and identities.

As a result of this breach, anyone who has installed Metamask on their browser is at risk of having their data exposed. If you are a Metamask user and have not yet updated your extension, we recommend that you do so as soon as possible.

Twitter hack exposes metamask user data

A recent hack of the Twitter account of the cryptocurrency exchange Binance has exposed the personal data of some of its users, including their metamask addresses.

The data was leaked in a series of tweets sent by an unknown user who claimed to have hacked the exchange’s systems and stolen user data. The account has since been deleted, but the screenshots it shared show that the data included the metamask addresses of some of Binance’s users.

Binance is one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, with a market capitalization of over $4 billion. It has long been a target of hackers, with security concerns being a major factor in its popularity. In March, Binance suffered a major hack that resulted in the theft of $40 million worth of cryptocurrencies.

This latest hack has prompted widespread concern among Binance’s users, many of whom are wondering whether their personal data was compromised. Binance has yet to respond to requests for comment.
